A Royal visit to the lab
On the 4 th of April 2012 the new King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands visited the NIOZ Yerseke, and was introduced to the ERC project. King Willem-Alexander was given an explanation on how filamentous bacteria can perform long distance electron transport. As an illustration, His Royal Highness received a replica of an electrical filamentous bacterium consisting out of circus balloons (costum-made the night before by the two daughters of Filip Meysman). The King was deeply impressed by the creativity of our research (and even more, by the creativity of the researcher’s offspring).
